Push Performance is a high performance baseball training facility located in Tempe, Arizona. We combine our in-depth understanding of strength training with a state-of-the-art, scientific method of developing our pitchers and ball players.
Our state-of-the-art facility and experienced coaching staff provides the perfect environment for players to improve their skills and reach their goals. Our coaches are highly qualified and experienced, with a passion for teaching and developing players. They use a variety of techniques and one-on-one instruction to help players improve their skills and reach their full potential.
Our strength, pitching, and hitting programs make use of cutting-edge technology in a comprehensive, data-driven manner that enables us to continuously evaluate, train, and re-evaluate players. Our athletes are walking testimonials as to the power of our highly customized programming.

Our Team

DJ Edwards
Owner | Founder | Strength Coach
DJ is the Owner and Director of Push Performance. He played college baseball at Metro State University.
DJ has developed many programs for a wide range of elite athletes. He uses his background in S&C and knowledge in corrective exercise, flexibility limitations and biomechanics to develop personal programs for each client.
He has developed the Elite Baseball Program and has had over 50 athletes drafted in baseball, including 7 first rounders, multiple MLB All-Stars, a Silver Slugger and a Gold Glove winner.
Push Performance works with every MLB organization and is home to over 100 professional baseball athletes.

Ashley Edwards
Owner | Founder | Nutrition Coach
Ashley is the co-owner of Push Performance. She received her bachelor's of integrated physiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her bachelor's of nursing from the University of Colorado Anschutz.
Ashley became infatuated with nutrition after working in the medical field and with the athletes at Push Performance. She believes nutrition and recovery are the aspects of training that can take the athlete to the next level. Ashley got certified as a Nutrition coach through Precision Nutrition and started helping athletes change their eating habits and recovery. She has helped many athletes over the years.

CODY VOELKER
Director of Operations
As the Director of Operations, Cody’s primary role is to ensure that all operations within Push Performance run smoothly. He works alongside all employees and programs to develop long-term operational strategies to maximize productivity and performance. Other responsibilities for Cody include leading negotiations, budgeting, purchasing, and implementing efficient workflows.
Before Push Performance, Cody worked for a custom home builder, where he managed all marketing functions, emphasizing developing the company brand and expanding the customer base. He also worked for a company specializing in commercial dishwashing and cleaning products, where he was responsible for managing service and sales for a specific territory.
Outside of the office, Cody likes to harness his competitive edge on the golf course. During his collegiate baseball career at Illinois State University, Cody graduated with his B.A. in Organizational and Leadership Communication.

Taylor Davis
Director of Development
Born and raised in Federal Way, WA, Taylor Davis played collegiate baseball at Lower Columbia College for two years before transferring to Gonzaga University, where he majored in Kinesiology and Physical Education.
Taylor started as an intern at Push Performance and then spent time as a strength intern at both Gonzaga and TCU before taking a full-time position as a strength coach at Push Performance.
Taylor coaches numerous athletes around the valley, including many across the country.

Andrew Amato
Director of Throwing
Andrew Amato comes to Push Performance fresh off his playing days at Point Loma Nazarene University, where he not only pitched for the Sea Lions but learned under the tutelage of their coaching staff and world-renowned biomechanics program.
Point Loma NU is among the leaders in baseball biomechanics research. During his playing days, Andrew trained with progressive baseball minds and developed an intricate understanding of throwing motion. He deploys that knowledge through creative movement solutions to maximize the output and resilience of his athletes.

SAM coe
Pitching Coach
Sam was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and is one of our pitching coaches. Sam started his college baseball career at Kishwaukee College in Dekalb Illinois then finished his playing career at Benedictine University Mesa.
Sam began coaching here at Push as an intern on the strength and throwing side. While being a throwing intern he found his love for understanding how the throw works, and pitch design. Shadowing under our Director of Pitching Andrew Amato, he began to learn the science and applications behind biomechanics in the throw, and the different principles to pitch design. At the completion of his internship he was hired to be apart of our staff
Since being hired Sam has worked with throwers ranging from Youth to Big Leaguers. Sam specializes in optimizing each athletes mechanical abilities and perfecting pitch repertoires.

eric everett
Strength Coach
Born and raised in South Jersey, Strength Coach Eric Everett attended Camden County College before transferring to Robert Morris University, located in Pittsburgh, PA, to finish his undergraduate degree in sports management.
After that, he became a strength intern at Cressey Sports Performance in Hudson, MA, followed by a strength internship for the Cleveland Guardians.
Afterward, he attended graduate school at Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA, where he studied physical education with a concentration in strength and conditioning and worked as a graduate assistant.
Over his tenure as a strength coach, Eric has worked with athletes and coaches across many different sports and levels, from youth to the professional level.

Meg lachapelle
Strength Coach
Meg is originally from Massachusetts and graduated in 2019 from Westfield State University with a bachelor's degree in movement science with a concentration in exercise science.
After graduating, she interned at Cressey Sports Performance in Hudson, MA, where she learned and experienced working with baseball athletes from youth to the professional level. She continued as a Sports Performance Coach and Personal Trainer before moving to AZ to start at Push Performance.
Meg is a certified NASM CPT, NSPA-certified sports performance coach, and speed and agility coach.

jamal wade
Strength Coach
Baseball training has been a part of Jamal’s life since he was a little kid. He and his brother, LaMonte Wade Jr, starting first baseman for the San Francisco Giants, trained everyday together growing up which led them to play alongside each other at the University of Maryland. During this time, Jamal appeared in 3 Big Ten Tournaments, 2 NCAA tournaments, including a Big Ten Championship Game and Super Regional appearance. Following his Junior year, Jamal was drafted as a pitcher in the 17th round of the 2017 MLB Draft to the Seattle Mariners. He got to live his dream for 5 seasons before retiring.
After retirement Jamal stayed in the game of baseball by coaching youth baseball with the Evoshield Canes and starting his own private business for pitching, hitting, fielding, and strength training. Jamal has shifted his focus in sports to the training side of the game, which ultimately led him to being hired as a Strength and Pitching coach at Push Performance. “At Push, I’ve found exactly what I was looking for in regards to the ultimate training facility. The staff is very intelligent, and the advanced technology helps athletes of all levels reach their full potential.”
